Boxes

Supa Swap's tidy house guide.

Are you fed up with your house constantly looking like a bombsite with children´s toys all over the place? Do your children get one toy out after another and leave it lying around?

Teach your children to become tidier and respect your home more by getting them to clear away their toys and possessions at the end of each day. Make this fun for them by getting some brightly coloured plastic boxes and put their names on each one so that they can put their own toys into each, or buy several and specify which toys to go into each such as, one for cars, one for dolls, one for crayons and colouring books etc.

You could specify a time each day to have everything cleared away, such as just before bath time, then once it has all been done properly, they will get a story read to them at bedtime.

mixed vegetables

Summer is almost over and we are approaching the autumn and winter months, so here at Supa Swap we want to help you save a little extra cash, so now is the time to start thinking about giving your children some nutritional and substantial meals to see them through the cold, rainy days ahead at the same time of saving money.

As well as warming them up from the inside, stews, casseroles and cottage pie will fill their little tummies far more than processed food like sausages, fish fingers and chips and will also be kinder to your purse as it will work out much cheaper to produce fresh meat and vegetable meals. Plus the fresh vegetables used will count towards their five-a-day quota.

Why not buy a kilo of minced beef and add to onions, herbs, chopped tomatoes and mushrooms to make a delicious bolognese. Just boil some pasta and you have a quick, simple and nutritious meal for your children without it costing a fortune. There will also be plenty left to add fresh vegetables to and make into a cottage pie for the next evening.

pocket_money

These days children make a lot of financial demands on their parents. They all want the latest toys, games and clothes especially as they get older. Well, the best way of showing them the value of money and the fact that unfortunately in life you can´t have everything immediately is to get them to earn their pocket money each week.

Set up a chart listing various duties around the house such as sweeping the floors, keeping their own bedrooms clean and tidy, washing the dishes, cleaning the car etc. etc. and against each one put a monetary value for them to earn their own pocket money to save up for the items they want.

Make the list with minor duties as well as larger ones and therefore if they wish to save for a more expensive item then they will work harder.

This will teach your children to have a good work ethic and make them realise that later on in life they have to work to acquire the nicer things in life. og them onto www.supaswap.com then they can themselves buy and swap toys and games.

Back To School

At this time of year, the school summer holidays take up so much time and expense, with so much to do and so much to pay out for. Now that the school holidays are coming to an end Supa Swap suggest it is time to think about new school uniforms and the expense involved in kitting out your little darlings for their new school year.

Some internet sites offer value for money but by far the best option would be to pop into your local supermarket where all the big four have a wide range of girl and boy uniforms in all age groups.

Whilst there why not treat them to new pens, pencils, crayons and notebooks for the start of the new school year as it will definitely not break the bank plus you can combine this with your regular weekly shop and earn yourself loyalty points.

Have you got any suggestions for cutting the cost of going back to school? Let us know in the comments below.

net nanny

Ever thought what your children look at on the Internet? Ever wondered what you can do to control what they are searching? With the Internet now part of everyday life, and Internet access in most homes, a lot of the Internet content is uncontrolled giving children complete access to all websites not suitable for them.

Net Nanny online filter system is a simple and easy to use Internet site filtering program, it blocks out all unsuitable web pages but allowing your child to still surf and chat to their friends on the Internet.

Net Nanny main features are:

1. Block facebook and other Internet chat sites.
2. Monitor where your children are going on the Internet.
3. Receive emails and alerts.
4. Stop illegal file sharing.

Net Nanny costa $29.99 or a family pack for up to three computers for $59.99, it is easy to download and get started right away.

I have installed the system on my kids computer and so far I am very pleased, we at Supa Swap like to be very careful on the internet for the children.

Let me know in the comments below how you get on or if you know any similar packages on the market.

Butlins

Supa Swap are pleased to suggest Butlins ans a great family holiday.

Butlins has now been rated as the number one holiday destination in the UK. Why is it so popular in this financial crisis I hear you ask?

Butlins has been offering great value family holidays for more than 70 years and each year seems to offer more and more. It has 3 sites over the country, Minehead, Bognor Regis and Skegness. Butlins has everything you need in one site, no need for a car and accommodation comes out at reasonable rates starting from just £70.00 per person for 3 nights including all the entertainment you you could wish for.

Daily entertainment includes live singers, bands, extensive choices of eating places, bars, clubs, and much more.

With the financial crisis hitting Britan and the whole world over, holidays are put to the bottom of the list in the family budget. So now more and more families are choosing to holiday in the UK, making holiday resorts more appealing with lo-cost breaks and as more people are now going the resort becomes a more exciting place to go for the whole family. why not look at the offers on Butlins website and check out the crazy prices ?
Have you any experiences of Butlins holidays or maybe another holiday centre in the UK or do you prefer guaranteed sun? Why not let us know below?

Who we are

The Parent Blog, brought to you by Supa Swap is designed to give you tips, tricks and comments about raising a family. In this busy world we live in, SupaSwap would like to help you make life that little bit easier.

Our main blogger, Susan, is just a normal mum. She has two children, twins, Mark and Damian, who are now 14 years old. Her husband Mortimer is often away from home with his work and so Susan has had to find a way of raising her young family that fits in with her life style and a working mum.

Do not forget to let us know your comments against any of the blog articles. We would love to hear your point of view.
